The World Resources Institute (WRI)'s new 38,000-square-foot office reflects the organization's mission of moving society toward sustainability. The American Institute of Architects honored the office as one of the "Top 10 Green Projects" of 2000.

Created in conventional leased office space and within a standard budget, the design uses environmentally-friendly alternatives to traditional building products. The team selected paints, finishes, countertops, flooring, cabinets, and wood from manufacturers that have exhibited a commitment to making their products and production processes more environmentally friendly.

The high-performance office lighting system provides energy savings of 77 percent compared to the building standard.
