Boot Camp Bonanza
HOK’s Sustainable Design Boot Camp in October 2001 has been featured in several media outlets. The three-day event gathered more than 50 HOK designers, project managers and leaders in St. Louis to share knowledge and experiences and to explore opportunities to integrate sustainable design practices throughout the firm. - AIArchitect presented the event as a "Best Practices Case Study." “In a ‘train the trainer’ approach, program organizers selected participants in leadership positions, each of whom made a commitment to return to his or her office and share the knowledge that was garnered during the sustainable design seminars,” writes Associate Editor Tracy R. Ostroff.
- ArchitectureWeek.com highlights the workshop in an in-depth feature article. "This conference represents HOK's commitment to integrating sustainable design principles regardless of a project's geography, culture, industry, building type, or budget,” says Managing Editor B.J. Novitski. “It also affirms their intention to instill such expertise throughout the firm, rather than creating a special practice or business unit."
