The Nature Conservancy Headquarters, designed by the DC office, is on the cover of Environmental Design & Construction magazine, March-April 2002. It's featured in a short article announcing the new Rocky Mountain Institute “Green Development” CD-ROM.

DC Breakout

The DC office organized a breakout session at the National Council for Environment and Science (NCSE) 2nd National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment. HOK’s presentation – "LEEDing Green and Planning Design" – was delivered by DC employees Duncan Lyons, Katrin Scholz-Barth, Lisa McCabe and Qasim Mansoor.

The intent of the conference was to formulate draft recommendations to incorporate into the National Position Paper and present at the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD). The recommendations were proposed from the perspective of "improving the scientific basis for environmental decisionmaking.”

NWF Earns Top 10 Status

The National Wildlife Federation Headquarters Building was named to the 2002 Top 10 Green Projects List by the American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment. Design Director Bill Hellmuth served on an expert panel to discuss the key environmental and design strategies of the winning projects on April 29 at the National Building Museum.

• Senior Architectural Technician Lisa McCabe attended the EnvironDesign6 sustainability conference in Seattle. The annual event featured keynote speakers, concurrent workshop sessions, a Product Learning Center and networking opportunities to deliver information about real-life challenges and concrete solutions in environmental stewardship.

• Project Manager Frank Mobilio earned his LEED™ accreditation.
