The new facility, known as the Resource Center, is located in the 1180 Peachtree Building, midtown Atlanta's newest high-rise and the first U.S. Green Building Council pre-certified LEED Gold Building in the U.S.
The various elements of the Resource Center complement its overall design, which aims for "advanced functionality, lifetime durability, and outstanding performance," says Tim Nichols, vice president and design director of Interiors for HOK Atlanta and lead designer on the Allsteel project.
The showroom was designed to serve as a convenient meeting place for architects, designers, real estate, and facility management professionals to use for events, or even as an alternative office. To this end, the centerpiece Community Room features a limestone chimney, wood-slat ceiling, gathering table, and regional art—including a unique piece that features the windshield from an old pick-up truck—all of which evoke a sense of history and nostalgia.
Beyond the Community Room, an open-plan space showcases Allsteel's range of workplace solutions and seating collections.
